Bristol has a love-hate relationship with Banksy, as he began stencilling on the walls of the city for nearly two decades. "Exit through the gift shop" exhibition (2009) was the highest profile of Bristol and the most successful exhibition ever at the museum in 190 years of history. Show brought an estimated £ 15 million into the local economy and was recorded as the first retrospective exhibition of Banksy work. The artist himself was involved in setting up museum exhibits and participated in supervision of its installation. Staff did not know who he is and his anonymity was compromised, including the crew set up the show. Although Bristol has seen the work of Banksy adorn the city walls, it was his first official exhibition in a closed museum. One of the key pieces in the exhibition is the work of "Pink Angel", which changes the 19th century plaster cast of angels. Banksy is splattered with pink paint and put an empty bucket over his head figure. This work was donated along with the model of Jerusalem, carved from olive wood Palestinian artists, Tawfiq Salsaato the museum after the start of the exhibition. Banksy agreed to show at the Museum to sign a fee of £ 1, all gift bithplace this elusive artist.
